Short Bio / Excerpt:
Daniel Colijn is an accomplished international operations executive, engineering specialist, and community leader who currently serves as the Chairman of the Dutch Society in Hong Kong (Nederlandse Vereniging Hong Kong). Known for his extensive global footprint, his career spans the engineering, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), and specialized infrastructure sectors across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. Over his decades-long trajectory, he has established a reputation for steering complex multinational logistics and civil infrastructure projects while actively fostering expatriate communities.
Colijn's foundational development was shaped in the Netherlands, where he pursued an elite academic path at the historic Leiden University (Universiteit Leiden). Graduating with a solid academic foundation that bridged analytical research with strategic planning, he immediately set his sights on an international corporate career. His transition from the Netherlands to global markets marked the beginning of a highly adaptive professional trajectory characterized by leadership roles in challenging macroeconomic environments.
Directly following his graduation, Colijn relocated to the Middle East, where he spent a substantial portion of his early and mid-career. Operating within a highly dynamic regional economy, he worked across multiple fields, alternating between specialized engineering infrastructure projects and high-stakes operations within the FMCG sector. Outside his corporate commitments, he deeply integrated himself into the local community, utilizing his organizational acumen to serve as a board member for two separate Dutch Associations in the Middle East, a prelude to his later civic leadership.
In recent years, Colijn accepted a high-profile deployment to East Asia, stepping into the role of Country Manager and Area Manager for Ooms Producten BV / Sealoflex. Based in Hong Kong, he has been responsible for overseeing major technical implementations, most notably managing a crucial infrastructure project at the Hong Kong International Airport. His technical expertise in paving, sealing, and industrial material engineering has positioned him as a vital asset for large-scale logistics hub developments across the Asia-Pacific region.
Beyond his engineering and corporate portfolio, Colijn is heavily invested in cultural preservation and international relations. Upon arriving in the region, he embraced local culture while stepping up to lead the Dutch Society in Hong Kong as its Chairman. In this role, he masterminds cultural activities, coordinates with corporate sponsors, and acts as a bridge-builder for the Dutch expatriate community, ensuring a robust network of professional and social support in Hong Kong.
